RaisingGodlyKids

We just started a group to discuss and encourage each other  in raising our kids to know Jesus. We meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the youth room.

At our first meeting, we discussed family devotions and  resources we use.

Some of the things my family does:

We do “High-Low" at dinner (What was your Highpoint for the  day? What was your Lowpoint for the day?)

We read Read with Me Bible at bedtime reading

After dinner devotion

a.       “In  the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”

b.      Scripture  Reading (Listen to Kidz Bible on computer; read The Message through a Gospel;Seasonal devotion)

c.       Catechism(usually from Ten Commandments)

d.      Prayer(Lord’s Prayer or off the cuff)

e.       Hymn

f.       “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all”

The other families preferred to have their devotions before  bedtime. We hope that seeing variety will encourage all of us to find something that works for each family.

Thanks,

Pastor Steve

Other Ideas for incorporating God into everyday life

1.      Trying to answer questions from a God-point-of-view

2.      Practicing  forgiveness (“I apologize for…. Will you forgive me?” “Yes, I forgive you.”)

3.      Letting your kids know/see that you have a daily Quiet Time with Jesus

4.      Seasonal:Advent Calendar and books; Lent
